Getting to know Bette Pounds

My name is Bette Pounds. People find me easy to talk to. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Yeshiva University and a Bachelor’s degree from the City University of New York. I have extensive training, as well as an abundance of life experience. I like to clarify and focus quickly on patients' personal goals. I believe that moments of peace can be achieved at point "A" while progress continues toward point "B." I work with adults and specialize in all types of relationships, including those we have with our work, hobbies, family, friends, romances, spirituality, intellect, and body. I use an eclectic, holistic approach, and together we will find the metaphors that you live by. Sometimes insight alone is not sufficient for change, so I will also help you take actions to achieve your goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

People find me easy to talk to. I have extensive training as well as an abundance of life experience. I can help with stress, anxiety and depression, and to manage challenges including relationship problems, lack of job satisfaction, low self-esteem, procrastination, grief, addictions, health problems, and knowing oneself better.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I give space to hear about a patient's thoughts and feelings, and I also find it helpful when I ask open-ended questions. I use an eclectic, holistic approach and I can help people dig a little deeper into what's bothering them, as well as to take actions to achieve their goals.

Bette is great! I immediately felt comfortable speaking with her. She has been so helpful since I’ve started seeing her.
I’ve been working with Bette for over 4 years and I absolutely recommend working with her.

I would highly recommend Bette to anyone looking for therapist.
She’s been incredible to work with. I’ve overcome a number of struggles and obstacles. Some small in nature and others have been concrete barriers to progress. I have joy, clarity, and direction that I’m not sure I could have achieved without this therapy. Images a wonderful person and an expert at her field. I highly recommend.
An amazing therapist is hard to find. I tried 4 before the stars aligned, and I found Bette. I’m grateful I did because she’s helped me walk through really tough times over the course of 8 years I’ve been seeing her. From crippling intrusive thoughts to depression and anxiety, feelings of guilt and shame, difficult family relationships, infertility, the list goes on. Bette made space for all of my struggles. If I bring her something many sessions in a row - there’s no judgement that I’m not yet past it. No exhaustion even when I feel exhausted with myself. She has helped me better understand what makes me tick. I struggled with meditating - so she wrote me my own. I dwell on a weakness, and she questions why I don’t consider that same weakness a strength. Talking with Bette I’ve evolved so much of my thinking. I’m more comfortable and confident in who I am, and I can enjoy the highs in my life without so much fear of the lows. If you’re considering therapy, Bette is truly amazing.
Bette is excellent, very good at making me feel comfortable and able to share. She is very flexible with timing and payment. Also she is quick to communicate via email, calls can be virtual or over the phone. She is great at meeting you where you are and providing a consistent level of care. Bette has been a stable resources of support to me for over 3 years. She provides insights when I ask but is also great at letting me find my own way. Specifically she has helped me through grief, anxiety and improving my inner voice. I would recommend her to anyone looking for therapeutic clinical support.
