Betty Crane, LPC

Psychotherapist
2915 Hunter Mill Rd, #14, Oakton, VA
I have been a practicing clinical psychotherapist for over 14 years, with prior experience as a practicing attorney in civil law, a corporate manager, and a stay-at-home mom for 8 years to my two kids. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College and a Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University. Additionally, I have a certificate in Spiritual Direction for when matters of faith or spirituality become integral to our work. Clients seem to respond well to my warm, affirming, and compassionate nature, and I very much enjoy helping people reach their therapeutic goals. My clients are adults—individuals and couples—ranging in age from young adult to senior. My areas of specialization include recovery from narcissistic abuse, grief, and trauma. Additional areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, relational issues, divorce considerations, parenting, and other family dynamics challenges. Our work typically starts with building a good connection and clearly defining the goals for our time together. I am eclectic in my approach, drawing from a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities. My approach is collaborative and participatory, meaning the client and I agree on different interventions as they are used and evaluated for effectiveness. I regularly check in with clients to assess their satisfaction with our work because I want to be accountable for helping them reach their goals and feel good about the investment they are making in their self-care, personal growth, or healing. For me, a satisfying result is a client who completes their work, is happy with our collaboration, and either returns later for a "tune-up" or for work on a new issue—or who refers someone else to me for help.
