“I have worked with Billie for around 2 years. She has helped me create a mental and physical space where I can start committing to my social, academic, spiritual, and professional endeavors. As well, Billie provided me with resources and helped me plan such as my study sessions during meetings, which created a space to make mistakes and navigate anxiety inducing tasks with guidance. l am working through childhood trauma that facilitated lot of harmful and cyclical behaviors. Billie has helped me address, challenge, and shift away from them through mental and behavioral shifts, regulations, tools, etc. I felt supported yet challenged in the best way. ”

Getting to know Billie Lowe

Billie Lowe has practiced in various capacities, including community social work, private practice, and program development, over the past 18 years. What should a new client know about working with you?

I am very much collaboration driven. I believe each client is an expert in their own experience and while I bring skills and tools to the table, I push my clients to realize their own needs while adjusting day-to-day thoughts/behaviors to better function and manage symptoms. I have worked with individuals living with serious mental illness and substance abuse concerns, I also enjoy working to help someone recalibrate, finding 1 or 2 easy fixes that we can practice together. Therapy is different for everyone and I enjoy learning what each client needs and wants from their therapeutic journey.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I encourage all clients to schedule a consultation first. Once you do decide it's a good fit, you'll create a profile with Hello ALMA - this is where I do all my billing and scheduling and then we can get started! We will build a relationship, I'll gather some information about your history and how certain areas of life currently feel stuck or unfulfilling and we will come up with a plan together. At times I might bring a worksheet or info sheet into session to better conceptualize certain tools while also providing a visual aid to support the process. Homework is an option - some clients appreciate that while others don't. And most importantly I like to find humor and warmth so that the space feels comfortable and familiar.

I have worked with Billie for around two years and she has helped me create a mental and physical that supports my academic, professional, and spiritual endeavors. As well, due to my anxiety I have a lot of resistance when completing tasks. Billie has helped me plan what my schedule can look like given the tasks I need to do or what a confrontational yet respectful email looks like. This helped me navigate my anxiety around work under a supportive environment. I am working through childhood trauma that created a negative, cyclical behavior and mindsets. Through her guidance, I am able to address, challenge, and eventually shift away from them with practice using various tools. She gives me a lot of control, however knows when to challenge me at the same time. I am incredibly grateful for having the chance to work with her.
Billie is a gem! She was patient with me. She took the time to listen before she commented. She made me feel safe with my vulnerability and she changed my thought process on the benefits of having a therapist. Her suggestions and knowledge on how to handle certain situations allowed me to effectively achieve my goals emotionally and mentally that we set for myself throughout my sessions. I have recommended her services to anyone And everyone that would listen to me or notice the positive changes Ive made. Im still a work in progress but I have made great changes from when I started with her up until now and I’m so thankful for her!
I’ve been a patient of Bille for a year now. In my experience, she has been very helpful with anxiety, depression, and trauma. She is knowledgeable and takes a trauma informed approach in her treatment strategies. She is also very down to earth and enjoyable to talk to. I would definitely recommend her! :)
