Getting to know Blair Mead

Do you feel overwhelmed these days? Are you constantly trying to strike a balance between the demands of work and parenting or co-parenting, while also managing your health, housework, and other responsibilities? In your family, does the caretaking always fall to you? Are you experiencing depression and anxiety related to past trauma or burnout from stress? I work with women experiencing what I call "multiple-role fatigue." With a Master's in Clinical Psychology from Pennsylvania Western University, Edinboro, I have experience treating depression, anxiety, and trauma-related stress disorders common among women facing an ever-mounting load of responsibilities in a complex society. Being a mother or caretaker often comes with diverse challenges, and I support clients in their recovery from trauma. I incorporate various treatment modalities where healing and recovery can take place through compassionate conversation, active listening, homework assignments, journaling, mindfulness, self-reflection, cognitive behavioral therapy, grief counseling, boundary setting, and trauma-informed care. I also offer faith-based support for clients seeking a Christian approach. I form a supportive alliance with caregivers to help them navigate the demands of parenting children with higher needs. Focusing on parental needs, I use evidence-based techniques to empower clients to achieve balance and lasting well-being. For parents, I am a strong advocate of self-care and help clients nurture themselves sustainably to avoid burnout. I believe parents need to feel seen and heard, and the stress of parenting cannot be overemphasized. Forming a partnership with parents, providing a forum where they feel consistently supported in a compassionate and non-judgmental way, is one of my top priorities as a therapist.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Expect our first few sessions together to be a time for me to get to know you. I'll be interested in hearing why you've come to counseling, and what your expectations are from our time together. As my client, you can expect to receive homework from me that will include mindfulness exercises and journaling assignments. Eventually, after the first 3-4 sessions as we get to know each other better, we will do some goal-setting which will help us track your progress in our longer-term work together. In our sessions together, you can expect active listening from me--making you feel heard is my top priority as your therapist, and I will combine this with honest reflection. I won't do any sugar-coating; I like to call things as I see them, but I do this in a very compassionate and kind way.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits

Blair has been absolutely amazing. So few therapists strike a good balance between listening and talking- but she does it so well. I've felt at ease in all our appointments and never once felt judged!
Blair has helped me so much already. My husband says he can already tell a difference. She has helped me work through solutions to struggles that weigh heavily on me and provides easy ways to cope in the moment to gain a clear headspace while also working through deep traumas that are still affecting me. I am so thankful I found her!
Blair is approachable and amiable, but also clearly skilled and prepared to challenge me as a client. She is solution focused and is reliable, with keen and astute observations.
