Hi, I’m Blake Pesetsky, MS, LAC, a Licensed Associate Counselor in Fort Smith, Arkansas. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, life transitions, stress, grief, self-esteem concerns, and feeling stuck. My goal is to provide a steady, honest, and judgment-free place where you can slow down, make sense of what is happening, and begin taking meaningful steps forward. My approach is person-centered, which means therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I tailor the work to your story, needs, and goals while drawing from approaches such as CBT, compassion-focused therapy, emotionally focused therapy, relational therapy, trauma-focused care, and family/marital therapy. For couples, I am trained in Level 1 Gottman Method Couples Counseling, a research-informed approach that helps partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen their connection. I hold a Master of Science in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from Southern Arkansas University, and my background includes more than 10 years of experience walking with people through hardship, transition, and growth. Whether you are coming in with a specific problem or you simply know something needs to change, I would be honored to help you take the next step.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is collaborative, honest, and tailored to you. You do not need to have everything figured out before you come in. Many people start therapy knowing they feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, anxious, depressed, or unsure of what to do next. My job is to help you slow down, understand what is going on, and work with you toward meaningful change. I try to create a space that is both compassionate and direct. I want you to feel heard and understood, but I also want our work together to be helpful and practical. Depending on your needs, we may spend time processing painful experiences, identifying patterns, building coping skills, strengthening communication, exploring relationships, or working through the beliefs and habits that keep you stuck. I believe therapy works best when it feels safe, purposeful, and real. I will not force a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, we will work together to clarify your goals and move at a pace that fits your situation. If faith, values, or spirituality are important to you, we can include those conversations in a way that feels respectful and appropriate.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the first session, I focus on getting to know you, your story, and what brings you to therapy. We will talk about what has been difficult, what you have already tried, what you hope will change, and any important background that helps me understand your current situation. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling like you have been heard and that we have a clearer direction for our work together. From there, we will identify goals and begin looking for patterns. For individuals, this may include exploring thoughts, emotions, relationships, coping skills, past experiences, stressors, and areas where you feel stuck. For couples, we may look at communication patterns, conflict cycles, trust, emotional connection, friendship, and the ways each partner experiences the relationship. A typical session may include conversation, reflection, skill-building, practical next steps, and honest feedback. Some sessions may focus on processing painful experiences, while others may be more structured around tools, communication, problem-solving, or changing specific patterns. Throughout the process, we will check in on what is helping, what needs to shift, and how therapy can continue to support your goals.
