Dr. Bonnie Floyd, PsyD

Psychotherapist
NY
My name is Dr. Bonnie Floyd. I'm a clinical health psychologist. I've been a psychologist for twenty-five years. My primary focus is working with clients living with chronic medical conditions. I help them to achieve the best possible quality of life, despite their ongoing health challenges. I have extensive experience working with a wide range of client concerns, including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, chronic pain, stress management, life transitions, and caregiver burnout. I've worked in psychological pain management, providing biofeedback therapy for patients with chronic pain. I also completed neuropsychological assessments to diagnose dementia in nursing home residents for close to twenty years. I'm most interested in helping clients feel more in control of situations over which they feel they've lost control. This is usually approached via Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a form of therapy that challenges us to address our thought patterns as the triggers of our uncomfortable emotions, including anxiety and depression. Outside of working, I enjoy designing polymer clay jewelry. Oil, acrylic, and watercolor painting are all very relaxing for me. Traveling to interesting new destinations and taking long walks are additional interests.
