“I see Brandon weekly as my therapist. He is very attentive during our visits and flexible when I have had to reschedule. He has been consistent and is very smart (which I appreciate because I know a lot about CBT and tend to bring up a lot of esoteric thoughts and ideas.) I sometimes wish he were more assertive and less passive in our sessions. But that is likely 75% due to my own tendency to talk a lot. I can fill a session just talking and trying to rethink my own problems that way. While I need to pause more, to allow for his input, I wish he would speak up more. I'm a strong personality and think I could use someone willing to interrupt me or interject more with what they are thinking about as I talk; to challenge my own ideas in a constructive way. I don't always trust my own thinking and I currently have few opportunities with other people for good conversation about difficult topics. Overall, Brandon "gets me," though. He has given me good advice about my current predicaments.”

Getting to know Brandon Bunker

Who knew you’d find so many therapists in Salt Lake City when you started googling? And yet, it feels like they are all saying the same thing. How do you find someone who truly meets your needs and understands what YOU are all about? My name is Brandon Bunker, and I became a therapist because I know what it feels like to be broken, misunderstood, and lost in life. I deeply love helping people who have been through hard situations and want to improve their lives. I don’t just love seeing people heal; I love seeing their impact on their families, friends, and communities when they are happier and healthier. I hold a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from New York University and completed my internship in counseling at Argosy University. I am currently working on my Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy. My specialties include depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, LGBTQA+, and individual and couples therapy. Calling a counselor can be a big step, but I’ll make it easy. We’ll spend 15 minutes on the phone, and I’ll let you know how or if I can help. If I’m not the right person, I’ll do my best to connect you with someone who is.

I have been working with Brandon for a while. He is very easy to talk to, is an amazing listener and remains totally present during appointments. He frequently reads between the lines, accurately noticing things even I am not aware I am hesitating to say. He has a calm and understanding demeanor, and provides exceptional feedback. He remains current on latest research and developments in the field. I would recommend him to people of all ages.
