Getting to know Brandon Silverman

Hello, my name is Brandon Silverman. I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, and since 2006 have lived and worked with my wife in Chicago. I am the proud father of a 22-year-old daughter in her senior year at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I hold a Master's degree in School Counseling and Guidance Services from Northeastern Illinois University and am a Licensed Clinical and Professional Counselor. I also work as a counselor at an inner-city alternative high school. I have been seeing clients for over five years and specialize in young adult and teen counseling. I have experience working with people of all backgrounds and stages of life. My perspective on counseling starts with the belief that if you listen to your clients, they will tell you what's going on. While basic, there is very little listening these days. When we are listened to and unconditionally respected and accepted, we instinctively can figure out our issues. That is how we grow. Helping you find that inner strength and resolve is what makes me uniquely qualified to help. I provide therapy for depression, anxiety, and trauma. I focus on developing client communication skills, resolve-training, and building inner strength. By addressing sabotaging thoughts and damaging behaviors, I help clients gain the strength and self-knowledge to rebuild their lives. My style is honest, warm, and personal. I believe if you listen, the client will tell you what is going on in their life. Together, we can set goals and solutions that work for you. I treat you with sensitivity, respect, and warmth by getting to know you as a unique individual. I use solution-focused therapy, family systems theory, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapy. By knowing you, we can find the counseling most beneficial to you. Seeking therapy is not an easy decision, and I commend you for wanting a better life. I would love to support you on your journey toward a more fulfilling life.
