Psychotherapist
LA
Hi, I’m Brandy Brodnax, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship stress, and major life transitions. I have experience in intensive outpatient and crisis settings, where I’ve supported individuals through high-stress, emotionally overwhelming, and complex seasons of life. This background allows me to remain steady and supportive, even when things feel heavy or uncertain. My approach is warm, supportive, and structured. I want therapy to feel safe and nonjudgmental, while also being purposeful and growth-oriented. I believe healing happens when you feel understood, but also gently challenged to move forward. In our work together, we will explore patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, identify triggers, and develop practical strategies to help you respond differently. I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and strengths-based interventions, always tailoring treatment to your specific goals and needs. I help clients build coping skills, strengthen boundaries, improve emotional regulation, and feel more steady and confident in managing stress. Whether you’re working through addiction recovery, relationship difficulties, self-esteem concerns, or simply feeling stuck, we focus on both insight and action. You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. If you’re ready for things to feel different and are willing to take the first step, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is collaborative, structured, and grounded in compassion. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and supported. I believe meaningful change happens when you feel both understood and gently challenged. My style is warm and down-to-earth, while also intentional and goal-oriented. I balance emotional processing with practical skill-building, so sessions are not only a place to talk, but also a place to learn tools you can use outside of therapy. I will ask thoughtful questions, help you identify patterns in thoughts and behaviors, and support you in developing healthier coping strategies. I utilize evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), strengths-based therapy, and trauma-informed principles. Treatment is always tailored to your specific needs and goals. Whether you are navigating depression, anxiety, stress, addiction, self-esteem concerns, self-harm, suicidal ideation, grief, or life transitions, we will work together to build insight, resilience, and sustainable change. The first session focuses on getting to know you. We will review confidentiality, discuss your history and current concerns, clarify what you hope to gain from therapy, and begin outlining goals. You are always encouraged to ask questions and share feedback about what feels helpful. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. We move at a pace that feels safe while still working toward growth. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting — you simply need a willingness to show up.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I begin with a comprehensive intake session where we review confidentiality, discuss your background, explore your current concerns, and clarify what you hope to gain from therapy. This initial meeting allows me to understand your history, strengths, stressors, and patterns, while also giving you space to ask questions and determine whether the therapeutic fit feels right. Together, we develop a collaborative treatment plan tailored to your goals. Ongoing sessions are typically 50–60 minutes and structured with intention. We usually start with a brief check-in about your week, current symptoms, or any immediate concerns. From there, we focus on themes connected to your treatment goals. This may involve identifying and reframing unhelpful thought patterns, exploring emotional triggers and behavioral responses, developing coping and relapse-prevention strategies, processing difficult experiences, or strengthening communication and boundary-setting skills. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, while maintaining a strengths-based and trauma-informed lens. I strive to balance emotional processing with practical skill development so that you leave sessions not only with insight, but also with tools you can apply between visits. Depending on your needs, therapy may be short-term and solution-focused or longer-term to address deeper patterns. We regularly review progress and adjust goals as growth occurs. Therapy is a collaborative process. My role is to provide guidance, structure, support, and thoughtful challenge when appropriate, while always respecting your pace and autonomy.
