Psychotherapist
SC
I'm Brantlee Spurrier. I've been in the mental health field for over 24 years. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor's degree from Erskine College. I offer safe, trauma-informed teletherapy for clients who are ready to fully engage in therapy. I chose to provide teletherapy because it provides clients with the opportunity to get needed mental health therapy in the comfort of their own home or office. I use methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, person-centered therapy and mindfulness to help clients reduce anxiety, manage depression, overcome trauma and process grief all from a trauma informed framework. My practice centers on teaching and developing effective strategies for reducing stress, and building stronger, healthier interpersonal relationships. My ideal client seeks help for family drama or interpersonal relationship issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, or the stressors of life transitions. They're motivated, open to exploring their past, and committed to growth for the future. Teens, adults, and families struggling with relational problems, school issues, or stress management are excellent candidates for therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Please know that I will listen, challenge, and help you to move forward. Together we will explore where you are currently and set goals for where you want to be. Depending on your needs and goals, we may include a spouse, a child, a parent or have an entire family session occasionally to best meet the goals you have set for therapy. Therapy is about you! You are the expert on your life. I'm there to help gently reflect, listen and sometimes ask tough or challenging questions to move you forward. My favorite question is: What does your life look like if your weren't in the situation that brought you to therapy? When you're ready to make meaningful change, please give me a call.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will begin with an intake appointment where I'll get a holistic, clear medical, mental health and any relevant family history, sometimes called a bio-psycho-social history. You will have the opportunity to share your feelings about what prompted you to seek therapy and anything else you feel that it's important for me to know about you and what you hope to gain from our time together. During the first session, together, we will begin to develop your treatment plan and goals and by the end of the second session we will have this plan in development or even in place, and ready for the deeper work of therapy.
