Bret Turecek, LPCC

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Bret! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) who has been practicing for 10 years. I primarily work with adults experiencing anxiety-related concerns, including generalized anxiety, phobias, OCD, trauma and PTSD, tics, hoarding, and body dysmorphia. I also enjoy helping clients navigate a wide range of other emotional and life challenges. My focus I primarily work with adults navigating anxiety, OCD, trauma, and related concerns. I enjoy working with people who feel stuck in patterns of avoidance, fear, or self-criticism, as well as those facing difficult life transitions, relationship challenges, or questions about meaning and direction. My approach I believe meaningful change comes from new experiences that help us learn something different about ourselves and what we're capable of. Fear or difficult experiences can convince us we're less capable than we really are. My role is to help you recognize your strengths, face challenges with courage, and find ways to live the life you want. My communication style My communication style is warm, curious, and direct. I want you to feel comfortable being honest, including when something isn't working or you disagree with me. I can offer gentle encouragement, thoughtful questions, or a more direct challenge when it seems helpful. There's also room for humor and being human. My journey to mental healthcare I entered counseling somewhat unexpectedly, after those who know me encouraged me to consider it as a career. I quickly discovered how much I enjoy the work: people are uniquely interesting, every story is different, and I like being part of the process of helping someone find a way forward. That curiosity continues to shape my practice. My goals for you We work together to understand what's keeping you stuck and identify meaningful steps toward change.
