Psychotherapist
WI
Hi there, I'm Bria! I understand how difficult it can be to find the right therapist to connect with and open up to - it can be daunting! In our work together, my hope is for you to find your agency, meaning, and explore who you really are. This is led by your goals, unique voice, and experience. I want you to come as you are - we will work toward answers together. My approach My background is trauma-informed, existential, and feminist. In my practice, I value CBT, DBT, Imago therapy, and attachment theory. These therapies/theories help us interrupt unhelpful thought patterns, learn to hold multiple truths at once, communicate more clearly, gain coping skills, find meaning, and, in a nutshell, understand ourselves. My focus I love to work with individuals and ethically non-monogamous (ENM) couples. Themes include: processing shame and finding one's voice, issues specific to women and LGBTQ+ folks, late-diagnosis ADHD in women, identifying boundaries, abuse recovery, and self-discovery after divorce. My focus is on empowerment, meaning-making, and the authentic self. My communication style Through active listening and thoughtful insights in a safe space, I help clients process shame and embrace their sexuality, work with partners to practice more effective communication, and help clients discover agency, better boundaries, & heal during big life changes. I bring authentic & direct feedback, a bit of humor, and compassion to my work. My journey to mental healthcare I have found that to be human is un-pretty, but it is also beautiful. I came to this work through my own life experience of trips, falls, and triumphs, punctuated by many hours of formal practice & learning. My desire to understand the experiences of others & how they shape them, while listening compassionately, is what brought me to this work.
