What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that my style is thoughtful, collaborative, and direct. I aim to create a supportive space where clients feel understood, while also helping them look carefully at patterns that may be contributing to distress, relationship difficulties, or feeling stuck. In the first sessions, I focus on understanding what brings you in, your history, your current concerns, and what you are hoping to change. From there, we work together to clarify goals and identify a treatment approach that fits your needs. My work is tailored to each client rather than one-size-fits-all. With adults, I often draw from insight-oriented, psychodynamic, and humanistic approaches to help clients better understand themselves, their relationships, and recurring emotional or interpersonal patterns. In couples work, I help partners better understand patterns of conflict, communication difficulties, emotional distance, and the ways each person contributes to the relationship dynamic. When working with children and adolescents, I take a developmentally informed approach and involve parents or caregivers when clinically appropriate. My goal is to help clients and families gain clarity, build insight, strengthen coping and communication, and take practical steps toward meaningful change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical process begins with a careful intake session focused on understanding what brings you in, your current concerns, relevant history, and what you are hoping to change. I use the first sessions to get a fuller picture of the patterns, stressors, relationships, and life experiences that may be contributing to the difficulties you are facing. In ongoing therapy, sessions usually involve a combination of reflection, exploration, and practical problem-solving. I often help clients identify recurring emotional, behavioral, or relationship patterns, understand where those patterns may come from, and develop healthier ways of responding. The work is collaborative and tailored to each client’s goals rather than following a rigid formula. With couples, I focus on understanding the relationship dynamic, including communication patterns, conflict cycles, emotional distance, trust concerns, and the ways each partner may be contributing to the problem. The goal is to help partners communicate more clearly, understand each other more deeply, and make meaningful changes in how they relate to one another. With children and adolescents, I take a developmentally informed approach and involve parents or caregivers when clinically appropriate. Sessions may include discussion, skills-building, emotional support, parent guidance, and coordination around school or family concerns. For psychological assessment, the process typically includes an intake interview, standardized testing, review of relevant history or records, feedback, and a written report with diagnostic impressions and recommendations when appropriate.
