Brian Harris is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, Qualified Mental Health Counselor Supervisor, and a PhD student in Clinical Sexology. He earned his Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida. With over a decade’s proficiency in treating a myriad of concerns ranging from persistent psychosis and neurodiversity to sexual deviancy, Brian brings a wealth of experience to his practice. Employed as a nursing assistant, opera singer, and first mate, he has appreciated and celebrated many people’s unique journeys. His ethical and sincere dedication to the overall wellbeing of each individual client is guaranteed.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Have you ever been slightly or drastically beyond the reach of accessing the language to express our human experiences? Do you sometimes believe you are stagnated among similar patterns of relationships with yourself and others? Exploring new parts within oneself and building healthier connections can be frustrating, scary, and tiresome. We all have our exceptional periods, good days, and not-so-good moments. Most people who benefit from the practice are usually artistic, athletic, and willing to incorporate some of the materials and techniques into their lives.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Creative, relational, and legal influences are likely incorporated along our therapeutic journey. In addition to incremental psychoeducation, individualized acceptance, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral evidence-based practices are significant components of treatment. Typically, people report they achieve their goals in about three to four months. Frederic Chopin noted, “Simplicity is the final achievement." Our initial meeting would include a longer comprehensive assessment to sensitively gather as much understanding of your presenting concerns. Then, we may be able to meet for about an hour once a week or so to help resolve matters to more adaptive functioning. Your consideration is essential, so please be well.
