Psychotherapist
PA
Hey there! I'm Brian Mullan, a licensed professional counselor with a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Delaware Valley University and a Bachelor's from the University of Montana. I believe firmly in client empowerment and autonomy, and I work with individuals to overcome challenges to achieve their maximum growth. My approach My approach is client-centered and emphasizes holistic wellness. I use dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and solution-focused therapy, through a feminist and multicultural lens. My focus I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, survivors of racial trauma and injustice, and LGBTQIA+ communities. I use a trauma-informed perspective to meet you where you are and hold out a light for us to walk a path together. My communication style I strive to create an environment where clients feel safe, empowered, and in control. We emphasize mindfulness and symptom management to get relief and open space for holistic healing. My journey to mental healthcare I love my job! Years ago, I worked as a community organizer and met many people who could benefit from a safe space to voice hopes, aspirations, and fears nonjudgmentally. I have been striving to create such a space in counseling. It is difficult to put into words the joy of witnessing individuals make informed choices and embrace autonomy and empowerment. My goals for you Clients are in the driver's seat in setting goals. Once we identify a target, I assist with finding incremental steps on the path from here to there, using evidence-based SMART goal techniques for efficacy. My first session with you We will review consent, confidentiality, and client empowerment strategies. My hope is that you identify at least two goals to work on together.
