Brian Olsen, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi, I'm Brian Olsen, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist from Orange County. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Vanguard University. I see clients who are ready to make a change for the better and want help making it happen. Hope is here. My approach In therapy, we'll work together to make sense of what is happening and why, set a vision for how things ought to be, and come up with a plan that has the best chance for creating change. It is a collaborative approach where we focus on what is most important to you, ensure we are a good fit, and find the right tools and skills that work for you. (If you are familiar with evidence-based approaches, the ones I use most often are CBT, DBT, ERP, and EMDR.) My focus I work with adults of every age, men and women, teens, and elementary school-age children (and their parents). The most common reasons people seek therapy are some combination of anxiety and depression, major life events, family and relational conflict, getting stuck in negative patterns of thoughts and behaviors that won’t change, and just needing support. My communication style My clients often give me feedback that I’m a genuine, down-to-earth, say-it-like-it-is kind of guy. They say I provide a calming presence, confident expertise, and an insightful, wise perspective on their issues and what to do about them. I like to think I’m pretty normal (if there is such a thing). I’m honest about what I know and what I don’t. I work hard at understanding my patients from their perspective, being responsive to their needs, and engaged in helping them live better lives. My goals for you I want to know how I can help you best, what role you want to play and what your preferences are, what works for you and what doesn’t, and your expectations for the process. Do you need an objective ear to listen, someone to talk to, support and guidance, expert insight and advice, tools and skills, motivation, or accountability?
