Welcome! I’m Brianna Higgins, MA, LPC, NCC, a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, self-esteem, neurodivergence, and other challenges that can make life feel overwhelming. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and respected. My approach begins with the belief that every person has inherent worth. Being “okay” does not mean being perfect or having everything figured out. It means recognizing that you are capable of learning, growing, healing, and creating meaningful change while remaining worthy of love, connection, and belonging. Because every person’s story is unique, I tailor therapy to your individual needs, strengths, values, and goals rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach. Drawing from a variety of evidence-informed therapeutic approaches, I may incorporate personality-focused therapy, narrative therapy, expressive arts, creative and experiential interventions, mindfulness, and other approaches that best support your growth. Whether you’re facing a specific challenge or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, my goal is to provide a compassionate, collaborative space where healing, resilience, and lasting change can take root.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment where you can show up as your authentic self without fear of judgment. Therapy is not about being “fixed” or becoming someone different. Rather, it is an opportunity to better understand yourself, build on your existing strengths, and develop new ways of responding to life’s challenges. I view therapy as a collaborative relationship. You are the expert on your own life and experiences, while I bring clinical knowledge, curiosity, and support. Together, we explore patterns, relationships, emotions, and experiences that may be influencing your present while identifying practical tools that help you move toward the life you want to create. I also value cultural humility and recognize that every person’s experiences are shaped by their unique identities, relationships, communities, and life circumstances. My goal is to create a space where all parts of your story are welcomed with compassion and respect. Some sessions may focus on learning practical coping strategies. Others may involve processing difficult experiences, exploring relationships, increasing self-awareness, or incorporating creative and experiential interventions when they align with your goals. Therapy is individualized, and we move at a pace that feels safe and meaningful for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, explore your personal history, discuss your current concerns, and identify what you hope to gain from the counseling process. I also welcome any questions you have about therapy so we can determine whether we’re a good fit. As we continue working together, we’ll develop a treatment plan that reflects your goals while remaining flexible as your needs evolve. Throughout therapy, we’ll regularly check in on your progress and celebrate growth along the way. Depending on your goals, our work may include developing coping skills, processing difficult experiences, strengthening relationships, increasing emotional awareness, exploring personality patterns, practicing new ways of communicating, or discovering creative approaches to expressing thoughts and emotions. Every treatment plan is individualized because every person and every story is different. Above all, I hope therapy becomes a place where you feel supported, challenged when appropriate, and encouraged as you build insight, resilience, and confidence in your ability to navigate life’s challenges. My goal is not to help you become perfect, but to help you recognize your inherent worth while developing the knowledge, skills, and self-understanding needed to continue growing long after therapy ends.
