Psychotherapist
IL
I’m Bri, and I help people just like you—you can be healthy and thriving again! You just need support to get there. I help clients cultivate courage and confidence by equipping them with tools to manage emotions effectively. Many of today’s treatments for depression, anxiety, and trauma focus too narrowly on one approach, leaving many feeling therapy isn’t tailored to their needs. I know your circumstances are unique, so I’m not afraid to use a variety of approaches. Every step we take is tailored to you. First, we look at what has you feeling overwhelmed. Then, we set goals important to you. Through our work together, you’ll learn tools and confidence to build the life you want to live. My training in poetry and talk therapy, along with my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois, Chicago, means I have the expertise you need and deserve when feeling stuck or overwhelmed. But at the end of the day, you want to know you’re working with someone who truly understands what it means to struggle with depression or anxiety, right? I get it because I’ve lived with depression and anxiety. I know that sometimes you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders. So when we work together, you won’t just get a trained therapist—you’ll get someone who truly understands what you’re going through.

What should a new client know about working with you?

To me, the most important part of our work together is the therapeutic relationship. I work to build this with you so that you feel comfortable and eventually challenged to grow. When we first start to work together, I do more listening than talking. Gradually, I will give more feedback and ask more questions. Then I use different approaches to help you to the best of my ability!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During a typical session, we talk about what you need to talk about. I might highlight different themes or bring us back to topics brought up in previous sessions. My style also includes asking you a lot of open ended questions, and helping you see things from different viewpoints. I'm working toward a certificate in poetry therapy and bring literature into session if appropriate, as well as journaling prompts to help activate a different part of your brain.
