Brigid Edwards, LMSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I am a Licensed Master of Social Work following my education from the University at Buffalo. I work with kids, teens, and adults. At the forefront of my work are the trauma-informed and human rights perspectives with an emphasis on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. I see clients as individuals who are impacted positively and negatively by their family, community, culture, and the world at large. Being LGBTQIA+, disabled, and neurodivergent myself, I support, affirm, and uplift these and other minority communities to build their self-esteem and self-advocacy skills in the face of oppressive forces. As all people are individuals who cannot fit into one mold, I help clients find various tools and techniques which best suit their needs. I borrow from mindfulness, experiential therapy, affirmative therapy, somatic therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. I provide aid in coping with and managing anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), neurodivergence (autism and ADHD), trauma, grief, disability or chronic illness, minority stress, and life transitions.
