Getting to know Britney Thomas

My name is Britney, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist offering active, skills-based therapy for adults who want a nonjudgmental space to learn, grow, and build real tools. I specialize in working with adults—especially neurodivergent adults—who are navigating big and little “T” trauma, relationship misunderstandings, and challenges with setting, communicating, and maintaining boundaries. What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is hands-on, collaborative, and grounded in real-life skills. I teach practical tools, empower you to love yourself well, and adjust our work based on your feedback so therapy always feels useful and relevant. I bring honesty, warmth, and—when appropriate—a sense of playfulness into the room. While we may explore some difficult or painful places, I believe we can still find moments of ease, humor, and lightness along the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, I’ll guide you through the important legal and ethical basics so you know exactly what to expect. From there, we’ll talk about what brought you in, what’s been getting in the way, and what you want to build moving forward. I use a four-session intake process so we have time to understand your goals, create a starting plan, and ensure we’re a good fit—if not, we’ll use the fourth session to find referrals that feel right for you. After intake, sessions often include skill-building, feedback-driven adjustments, and steady work toward healing trauma, strengthening boundaries, and creating the life you want.
