“I worked with Brittany for over a year, and she was amazing. In only a year I feel like I’ve gained control over my life. I started therapy with low self-esteem, little self-worth, and no plans for my future. I was in a rut, having pushed off a surgery for about 3 years. She gave me the tools to build up my confidence and show me how to care for myself. I left therapy having completed two surgeries and heading back to school in the fall. She also helped me find the right medication combo that helped me properly function. I can say without a doubt she has helped me improve my quality of life tenfold. She has given me the tools to not just survive but thrive in any situation I’m in. I’m eternally grateful for her guidance and support. She has changed the way I interact with the world for the better, and for that, I couldn’t thank her enough. I highly recommend Brittany for neurodivergent and queer people who need guidance navigating a world not made for us.”

Getting to know Brittany Banks

*This provider does not accept any Medicaid or Medicare plans* Navigating life with a neurodivergent mind can feel like you're constantly missing a step. I know because that's my journey. The beauty of this path' Discovering strengths in the very spaces we once saw as weaknesses. In every session with me, you'll find understanding rooted in my own experience as an individual with ADHD. As an LMSW with a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Hunter College, City University of New York, I bring both clinical tools and personal insight to our work together. If you're a young person trying to make sense of a recent diagnosis or looking to better understand your own quirks-or the parent of such a person-I’m here, ready to walk beside you. I see therapy as a dialogue, a two-way street where we come together to explore and understand. It's not just about coping, but thriving and embracing all facets of neurodiversity. While my personal journey introduced me to the world of ADHD, my professional training empowers me to guide others on their path. It's a blend of genuine empathy and actionable strategies. I also value working with other members of the LGBTQ+ community, who have their own challenges and triumphs to navigate. If you're searching for someone who truly understands, who’s been there and navigated the complexities, I’m here. Together, we'll chart a course through insight to self-awareness. As endorsed by Natalie Koslowsky on Psychology Today: "I've had the pleasure of working alongside Brittany for more than a year, she is my number one referral for anyone needing support with ADHD or ASD. Brittany is rooted in gentleness and empathy, and she approaches each client with genuine curiosity and aims to empower others."

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with adolescents and young adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or those grappling with executive functioning challenges, sense of self, or sexual identity. A young diagnosis of ASD or ADHD can present so many challenges to the individual and family, but with proper support and education, we can find the strengths and talents that come along with the challenges. On the other hand, an adulthood diagnosis can carry an immense amount of grief and resentment around the lack of knowledge and necessary support in their upbringing. Learning how to process and release these feelings is an important step and will help you move forward into a successful future equipped with the essential knowledge about yourself and your diagnosis.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Working with me is an experience characterized by empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to your well-being and development. It is my number one priority that you feel like a collaborator in your therapeutic journey and that you feel empowered to bring any topic to our space. You can trust that I will be encouraging and passionate as we work through challenges and that I will be your biggest cheerleader when it comes to celebrating accomplishments or positive steps. My commitment to your well-being, coupled with my expertise and client-centered approach, creates an environment conducive to growth, healing, and positive change. Of all the therapists I’ve had, Brittany has been the only one who has consistently made me felt heard and listened to. She has really helped me manage living with several neurotypical conditions, and always is willing to try a new approach if one does not work.
