“Brittany is exceptional as a counselor. When we had our consultation session I was very clear on what I was looking for she and she is that and so very much more. She is extremely knowledgeable, kind and incredibly receptive. She took it upon herself to explore the possible ways we could work together. And then presented them to me Which blew me away with the lengths she went. She offered me an effortless opportunity to work with her. And I thank her every session. ”

Getting to know Brittany (Becker) Kravat

With 10 years in the mental health field and countless individuals and families served, I am excited to start my next chapter in private practice! I am a NY Licensed Mental Health Counselor, NJ LPC, and CT LPC with expertise in helping individuals and families navigate the impact of mental health on themselves and their loved ones. I earned my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from LIU Post. Having held roles from Clinical Intern to Clinical Director, I bring a deep understanding of how mental health conditions manifest differently for each person and how important holistic and individualized care is in providing effective treatment and creating sustainable growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m frequently people’s first call when they need a dose of positivity, some healthy perspective, and clear action steps to help them move forward from their problems, whether those problems are as simple as momentary frustrations or as complex as past trauma experiences. I believe in venturing beyond clinical textbooks, embracing my own experiences and collaborative brainstorming to craft personalized solutions. I have special interests in grief work, parenting, life skills/“adulting,” career exploration, and supporting/mentoring other mental health professionals. I also specialize in providing psychoeducation to families about the complexities of their loved one’s mental health, including explaining options for treatment and teaching family members how they can best support their loved one through their behavioral changes.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy is a collaborative process. I'll take the time to understand your reasons for seeking therapy and respect your lead in setting the initial focus. By asking questions naturally within the conversation, we'll explore your past experiences as they relate to your present goals. Our communication will be honest, open, and built on genuine connection. We'll work together to develop strategies that resonate with you. You'll never feel like you're on a pre-set path – this is your journey, and I'm your supportive guide. I bring in specific workbooks, readings, videos, and spreadsheets as needed when specific skill-building is needed. I believe in tailoring to meet the different learning and processing styles of my clients. In our initial call is 20 minutes to begin to get to know if I am the right fit for you. If you decide to continue working together, sessions are available in 30 or 50-minute formats, and we'll typically begin by meeting once a week. However, we can discuss adjusting the frequency as needed, whether that means increasing sessions for a focused period or reducing them as you progress.
