“I had an excellent experience during my first session with Brittany. She was incredibly personable, warm, and relatable, which immediately helped me feel comfortable and at ease. It was clear that she had taken the time to thoroughly review my information beforehand and genuinely paid attention to the details I shared. I never felt rushed or like I had to repeat myself. I also really appreciated how intentional she was about communicating with me before the session and making sure I was prepared. From the initial outreach to the session itself, she was attentive, professional, and welcoming. I left my first session feeling heard, understood, and comfortable with moving forward in the process. I’m really glad I connected with her and look forward to continuing my work with her.”

Getting to know Brittany Cervino

I feel like you’ve probably read enough therapist bios by now, and they may all be starting to sound the same. A little confusing, right? So, I’ll keep it simple. Finding the right therapist can take a little trial and error—kind of like most of the hard decisions in life. My approach is supportive, compassionate, and down-to-earth. Therapy is a place to talk about the hard stuff, celebrate the good stuff, sit with the uncomfortable stuff, and yes, laugh when we need to. I’m not here to simply nod and ask, “And how does that make you feel?” for 60 minutes. I believe in understanding where our patterns come from while also figuring out what we can actually do about them. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting. You just need somewhere to begin.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I received my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Adelphi University. Prior to becoming a therapist, I earned a master’s degree in Criminological Theory and Research from St. John’s University and my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from St. Joseph’s College. I’m also certified in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy and, yes, I work on a farm too! I’m a firm believer in working out our minds just like we work out our bodies. Sometimes that means building healthier coping skills, challenging old patterns, having uncomfortable conversations, or learning to give yourself a little more grace along the way.

I have been working with Brittany for about 2 years now and she is the best therapist I’ve had thus far (and I have had quite a few over the years)! She helps identify strategies specific to me and my personality and explains the whys and hows, which I find helpful and motivating. I finally feel like I’m making a progress towards my mental health goals- I find good therapists are hard to come by sometimes - Brittany is definitely one of the good ones! Highly recommend!
