Are you trying to make a change in your life? Maybe it's drinking or smoking less, setting boundaries with others, or getting a handle on your depression. I can help you define what you want to get out of therapy and we will work together to carve a path to that goal. My approach I use evidence-based practices like Motivational Interviewing to help clients figure out what they want and then set small steps to reach their goals. I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy to help clients "rewire" their brains into more useful thinking patterns. This can improve depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. I also use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to treat self-harm behaviors and suicidal thoughts. The goal of DBT is to create a life worth living, and that's exactly what I do with my clients. My focus I work with adults who are trying to reduce or quit substance use or who are trying to find the root of their addiction. Often, people drink or smoke to manage anxiety, depression, loneliness, or to forget traumatic events. We can work together to sort out why you are/were using substances and treat that to avoid relapsing in the future. I also work with parents who are experiencing postpartum depression/anxiety and new parents who are struggling to keep it all together. It is hard to keep a job, maintain a household, and raise a child all at the same time. Sometimes it feels as if it is impossible! I can help you determine what's important and learn how to manage the stress so that you can be the best parent for your child. My communication style My priorities in therapy are to be present for you and to be honest with you. I thoughtfully listen to my clients and offer comfort and support. At the same time, I will tell you my opinion and I will also call you out if it seems like you are skirting an issue or not being fully honest with me or yourself. I have a direct communication style, which works well for many people. I try to tailor this to those who need it.
