Getting to know Brittany Richstein

Do you ever feel like you are stuck in a repeat of Groundhog Day? Overwhelmed with stress, feeling stuck or unfocused? Maybe you’re struggling to juggle work and personal life, teetering on the edge of burnout. You put too much pressure on yourself yet never feel good enough, constantly overthinking and feeling out of control. On the outside, you keep it together, but inside you’re in pieces, trying to hang on to this never-ending roller coaster ride. The world feels like it’s on your shoulders. No one gets it. The emotional ups and downs make you sick, and you’re tired of it. Asking for help is hard. You feel like you have to look strong for everyone else because that’s who you are, right? I understand what it’s like to always have to be “on” and feel the pressure of the world closing in. Sometimes we just need to release that pressure and unlock our happiness. Let’s explore that. Let’s do the work. Let’s have the hard conversations. My office is an inclusive, judgment-free environment. I get it, and I am here for you. With a Master’s in Social Work from Kean University, I will guide you through the discomfort of change and meet you exactly where you need me with individualized treatment. I will support and empower you at your own pace, helping you take the actions needed to reach your goals and enjoy your amazing life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am real. I will listen. I will hear you. I will make sure you feel supported but also challenge you when needed to help you grow. I will show up how you need me, and sometimes in ways you didn't think you needed. I will work to help you feel connected and do everything in my power to make sure that you get what you came for.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first meeting we will discuss your needs and goals and come up with a completely customized treatment plan, tailored to you. During sessions we will explore different aspects of your life and use evidence-based techniques to target your needs. We will process your experiences, figure out how they affected you, and use them to help you understand who you are and what shaped you. We will identify patterns of behavior and thought, learn your triggers, and help you to look inward and understand who you are. We can learn how to look at things differently and accept what can’t be changed. I will also work to teach you real ways to get you through your feelings, struggles, and other everyday issues to allow you to break free and live your best life. I will teach you how to apply these skills when you need them most, how to process stressful situations, and how to handle negative thoughts that are slowing you down. Most importantly, I will make sure to be where you need me. We all have a story- I hope you’ll let me in on yours.
