My name is Brooke Boyce. I love children and enjoy an uncomplicated family life with my husband of 15 years and our six children (we are blended). For twelve years I was a soldier in the US Army. I was a Medical Laboratory Technician for the first nine years and a Cytologist for the last three. I left the Army to be a stay at home mother. Those were the best eight years of my life. When my husband retired from the Army, the family moved to my husband’s hometown of Katy, Texas. My family has resided in Katy since late 2015. We had some rough going at first, but we have all adapted and thrived. During this transitional period My husband and I decided that we wanted to change career paths. My husband earned his Masters in Business while I earned my Masters in Licensed Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I completed my 700 practicum hours for my degree plan at the Krause Home for Girls working with girls from the ages of twelve to eighteen. Most of these youth came to the home by way of Child Protective Services. During this time I was able to work with youth with various Mental Health diagnoses. After the completion of my practicum hours I crushed my National Counselors Exam and sought gainful employment as a Therapist Intern. My first position was working for a community WRAP service. The program offered in-home interventions for struggling families. After learning the ropes Of a WRAP service I transitioned to a private practice where I enjoyed working with clients of all ages and walks of life. I have taken a page from my supervisor’s book in that I believe a good Therapist should work themselves out of a job. Meaning Therapy is not a life long sentence. Clients should come to therapy inorder to learn tools to help them through their current struggles. In short I am an advocate for client empowerment. I do not “fix” clients. I look forward to building your personal toolbox of strategies to conquer life’s challenges.
