Brooke Reams, LSW

Psychotherapist
3047 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL
I became a therapist because I genuinely believe everyone deserves the freedom to live their best life. Often, getting there means taking a close look at all the things—both internal and external, from the past and the present—that make it difficult to engage with the world in the way we want. In my practice, I focus on creating a space that feels safe, supportive, and truly confidential so clients can explore their experiences openly. Together, we look at the patterns, relationships, and life events that may be holding them back from feeling like their authentic selves. Whether someone is navigating challenges in relationships, personal growth, or life transitions, I am dedicated to helping them build the courage and self-trust needed to share their true self with the people who matter most like partners, family, and close friends.

Getting to know Brooke Reams

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with adults, couples, families, and groups across diverse backgrounds and identities. Much of my professional focus is on collaborating with people from marginalized communities, and I am committed to creating a space where all parts of you are welcomed and respected. I explore the impact of living in a society that can make it difficult to feel connected to yourself and to others. This disconnection frequently manifests as trauma symptoms, depression, anxiety, relational challenges, and many other challenges in daily life. I also value the opportunity to partner with clients who are in the process of discovering their voice, experiencing a personal evolution, or navigating significant life transitions. A particular joy of mine is working with couples and families who are searching for honest and vulnerable ways to connect with one another. My goal is to offer a thoughtful, collaborative space where you feel supported in creating the change that matters most to you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I view the client as the expert in their own life, and that belief guides my collaborative approach. I serve as a non-judgmental, open sounding board where you can safely place your thoughts, feelings, and ideas. From there, I may offer a different perspective or invite you to dig deeper. I make space for the full range of emotions, knowing that meaningful growth happens in an environment that is trauma-informed, socially conscious, and grounded in respect and dignity. My work is deeply invested in helping individuals, couples, and families find their own voice and path, free from judgment or being told who they "should" be. My approach is often rooted in practices geared towards reconnection with self, community, and earth, including Somatic Therapy, Nature-based Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am here to walk alongside you as you uncover what feels true, sustainable, and meaningful for your life.
