Bruce Hearn, LMFT

Psychotherapist
126 Church St, San Francisco, CA
If you're reading this, you might be thinking about starting therapy and wondering who I am. As a therapist, I find personal contact both fulfilling and fascinating. My journey to this work began with a couple of decades spent in the tech industry, where the objective nature of the work was reassuring. However, I realized that approaching life through cognitive abilities while sidelining emotions can lead to a sense of disconnection and emptiness. What sets me apart from other therapists is my experience in technical work, which provides a unique perspective on the importance of emotional connection. I am passionate about helping people expand their emotional range, deepen their self-awareness, and improve their relationships. I obtained my Master's Degree in Counseling from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, focusing on healing developmental trauma and improving relationships. My undergraduate degree is in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. I specialize in relational psychotherapy and emotionally focused couples therapy. My focus on relationships aims to help people live fuller lives with deeper connections and higher levels of mental integration. I work with clients to develop new stories and leave old, dysfunctional ones behind. My areas of interest include neurodiversity, parenting, developmental trauma, and recovery from religious indoctrination. Having lived in Australia, the Midwest, and the UK, and traveled extensively around Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia, I bring an international perspective to my work. If you're looking for a therapist who can help you deepen your emotional range, understand yourself more deeply, and improve your relationships, I would be honored to work with you.
