What should a new client know about working with you?

Above all, I want my clients to know that my priority is to create a space where they feel safe being fully and authentically themselves. As a gay man, I understand the importance of having spaces where identity does not need to be explained, defended, or minimized, and I hope to create that sense of safety for each of my clients. Professionally, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida. I completed my Bachelor of Social Work in Indianapolis and my Master of Social Work in Miami. Through my professional career, I have had the opportunity to work with people navigating some of life’s most difficult moments. My experience includes providing therapeutic services within a homeless shelter’s substance use treatment program, as well as working in an inpatient hospital setting. I have supported individuals through substance use concerns, medical crises, major life changes, grief, and loss. I am no stranger to difficult conversations, and I want my clients to know that no thought or feeling is unwelcome in our therapeutic space. Every individual, regardless of background, identity, or lived experience, is welcome in my practice. I look forward to meeting you!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach to therapy is collaborative and strengths focused. Ultimately, you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you better understand where you are, where you want to be, and what may help you get there. I am not here to direct you on what to do, but instead to create a space where you feel safe and empowered to grow. As part of this, I take a holistic view of each person I meet, recognizing that one’s thoughts, emotions, relationships, physical health, environment, and life experiences all influence us. Rather than focusing on just one part of who you are, I want to understand how the whole picture fits together. Depending on your needs, I draw from solution-focused therapy, CBT, mindfulness, positive psychology, and harm-reduction approaches. The path forward is not always straightforward and can be messy; however, we can work together to find a way forward that feels realistic, meaningful, and true to you.
