What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is warm, direct, and collaborative. I create a space where you can be honest, even about the hardest things, without fear of judgment. My approach is rooted in evidence-based methods (the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy), but sessions never feel clinical or scripted; they feel like real, meaningful conversations that move you forward. If you're coming to couples therapy, expect both partners to be active participants. I'll help you understand not just what's going wrong, but why, and give you concrete tools to communicate and reconnect, both in session and at home. If you're navigating the aftermath of an affair, I specialize in this work specifically and will guide you through a structured, compassionate process toward healing, whether that means rebuilding trust together or finding clarity about your next steps. If you're coming to individual therapy, expect a space focused entirely on you, your patterns, your history, and what you want to feel and build going forward. I don't believe in quick fixes, but I do believe real change is possible, often faster than people expect once they have the right support. Your first session will focus on understanding your story and what brought you here, so we can build a plan together from there. I offer a free 15-minute consultation before your first full session, so you can ask questions and get a feel for whether we're a good fit before committing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first session is focused on getting to know you, your story, what brought you to therapy, and what you hope to achieve. For couples, I'll ask about your relationship history, current challenges, and both individual perspectives, so I have a full picture of your dynamic. For individuals, we'll explore what's bringing you to therapy now and what patterns or experiences have shaped where you are. From there, we build a plan together based on your specific goals. My approach draws primarily from the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy, both are structured, research-backed approaches to understanding relationship patterns, emotional needs, and communication breakdowns. Sessions are talk therapy focused, but I bring in specific tools, exercises, and frameworks (rather than open-ended conversation alone) so you leave each session with something concrete to reflect on or practice. For couples navigating infidelity, I follow a more structured process specifically designed for affair recovery, helping you move through stages of processing, understanding, and rebuilding, at a pace that respects both partners' needs. For couples preparing for marriage, I use the Prepare/Enrich assessment early in our work together to identify strengths and growth areas as a starting point for premarital counseling. Ongoing sessions typically happen weekly, though I also offer longer sessions (75 or 90 minutes) and couples intensives for those wanting more concentrated time together. Throughout our work, I regularly check in on progress and adjust our focus based on what's most helpful for you.
