“Callie is a wonderful therapist because she is as authentic as they come! She is very much in tune with me and also makes me feel super comfortable sharing whatever comes up. I know Callie is going to nudge me when I need to be nudged, but she always does it in the most gentle way that builds trust and leads to my own progress and sense of peace. I’m very grateful for my time with her - her approach is really a breath of fresh air! I recommend her to anyone!”

Getting to know Callie Wile

My name is Callie Wile and I am a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist in the state of New York. I received my master's degree in Art Therapy from NYU and have been practicing Art Therapy for nearly a decade in multiple states. Currently I service clients exclusively in the state of New York. While I specialize in trauma-focused work, my integrative and client-centered approach lends itself to addressing a variety of challenges one might face such as low self-esteem, difficult life transitions, feelings of anxiety or depression, and identity exploration. Through our Art Therapy sessions we will utilize creative processes in conjunction with talk therapy to look at who you are as a whole person. We will not only explore your challenges, but we will also work to recognize your strengths and resilience. Your artistic creations will foster insights and reflections that might have not been able to realized through verbal explorations alone. The sessions I provide are never one-size fits-all. Sessions are tailored to meet your needs and concerns, and it is important to me to partner with my clients as I help them meet their wellness goals. Art Therapy is a highly adaptive modality and in my practice I commonly infuse art process with other therapeutic modalities such as Mindfulness, Solution-Focused and Trauma-Informed approaches. Together we will find out what works best for you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take an integrative approach to treatment in order to tailor sessions to each individual and their unique goals. I aim to be flexible when working with clients and do not shy away from shifting approaches if something is feeling unproductive. I try to create a space in which clients feel comfortable to have conversations about what works and what doesn't in their own treatment and will regularly check-in with clients on how they are feeling about current treatment approaches and goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When we start working together, I want to get to know you and why you are here, and I also want to get to know you as an artist. So to begin we will do some creative exercises that help achieve both of those goals. Many clients come in anxious or self conscious about making art, and I will support you through that adjustment phase if needed. Art Therapists are also skilled in talk-therapy interventions, so if you would prefer to not make art in a given session, that is always your choice to make as well.
