Hi there, I'm Camilo! Hola! My name is Camilo Avila, and I'm a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Texas with over 7 years of experience. I earned my Master's in Counseling from Texas A&M University-San Antonio. We all love a good underdog story! Why though? Because we relate to those low points in our lives when we felt like the "underdog," and seeing others overcome their struggles gives us hope and inspiration. I love working with people who are ready to make positive changes in their lives! My approach In counseling, there is no "one size fits all." My experience with everyone I've worked with has shown me that being an active, compassionate, and patient listener really pays off! As an experienced counselor, I adjust to your personal therapeutic needs. I utilize various psychotherapeutic approaches and modalities, including Rogerian/person-centered, trauma-informed care, positive psychology, strengths-based, CBT, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy, among others. For me, what matters most is you as a whole. You are more than your present circumstances-never forget that! Every problem, by definition, has a solution, and identifying the root cause of your symptoms is half the battle won. In my sessions, the most important thing is YOUR therapeutic progress! There's nothing more exciting than personal transformation through perseverant positive change! Remember this: if nothing changes, nothing changes.
