“Candy is a warm, genuine presence and a breath of fresh air. After moving across the country, I feared having to go through the motions of finding a provider who fits my needs and lose the drive to do so. Candy was not only welcoming and patient when we first started, but she's been very encouraging and insightful as well from day one. Her words and sentiments are heartfelt and authentic, and she's such a wonderful person to chat with that I look forward to our sessions. Thank you, Candy!”

Getting to know Candace Merrill

Hi, my name is Candace, but you can call me Candy. I have worked in the mental health field for 20 years. This experience has allowed me to gain vast knowledge of the many nuances that can affect one's life. I have been honored by each person I've worked with, as they have allowed me a window into their life and the issues they faced while working together as a team to overcome these challenges. My view on counseling is that the person seeking therapy and the therapist are a team, working together to find solutions and overcome the issues at hand. I hold a Master's in Social Work from West Virginia University. I have a desire to use my empathetic and compassionate nature, along with my skillset and experience, to help people find and utilize services, coping skills, and solutions that will assist them in gaining a better quality of life. I do this by providing a confidential, safe, and judgment-free place for those seeking therapy to discuss their situations and needs. I use a strengths-based approach along with cognitive behavioral therapy and thinking outside the box to help people identify and reach their goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

During our first few sessions we will work together to develop a professional relationship. Hearing your story from you will help me to assist in determining goals and provide treatment. I will provide some guidance if and when you may become stuck on setting and achieving goals. During sessions after the treatment plan is put in place, we will continue to assess the plan for needed changes as you accomplish your goals. You may encounter some uncomfortable feelings as you tell your story. My goal is to provide a safe environment for you to be able to discuss your feelings/concerns with me. I can promise I will not judge you on what is said, and your information will be confidential. I will provide gentle guidance to assist you in moving forward to attain your goals.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
