Candice Beaton, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I’m Candice Beaton, LCSW, and I specialize in helping high-functioning adults who look like they have it all together on the outside but feel quietly overwhelmed, anxious, or “fried” on the inside. With over 20 years in mental health, I created Modern Therapy CB to make therapy feel relatable, approachable, and actually useful — never cold or overly clinical. My focus is anxiety and the patterns that keep it going: worry loops, harsh inner critics, people-pleasing, and the extra stress we unintentionally add on top of life’s normal challenges. I blend evidence-based approaches with real-life insights to help you feel lighter, steadier, and more like yourself again — without the pressure to be unbreakable. If you’re tired of managing everything alone and ready for practical support that fits your actual life, I’d be honored to work with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me means you’ll have a warm, non-judgmental space where you don’t have to pretend everything is fine. Many of my clients are successful, capable people who feel exhausted from constantly pushing through anxiety, overthinking, or carrying emotional weight no one else sees. My style is direct yet compassionate. I’m not here to just listen — I help you understand your patterns, validate what you’re feeling, and build practical skills that actually work in your real, busy life. We’ll gently explore why tools sometimes don’t stick and find ways to make them more effective for you. You can expect honesty, warmth, and a collaborative approach. Therapy with me often feels like having a thoughtful guide who “gets it” and helps you move forward with more calm and clarity.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is a thoughtful conversation where you share what’s been weighing on you and what you’re hoping to change. I’ll ask questions to understand your unique experience with anxiety, stress, and life patterns. Together, we’ll create a clear focus for our work. In ongoing sessions, we typically: Explore the thoughts, patterns, and situations that fuel your anxiety Validate your feelings while gently examining the extra layers of stress we sometimes add Practice practical tools drawn from CBT, acceptance-based approaches, mindfulness, and real-life strategies that fit your actual days Work on breaking unhelpful cycles so you can feel steadier in relationships, work, and daily life Sessions are collaborative and tailored to you. Some weeks we’ll focus on immediate relief; other weeks we’ll go deeper into long-standing patterns. Many clients notice they feel lighter and more in control within the first few sessions. I provide online therapy for clients throughout California.
