What should a new client know about working with you?

My name is Candida Crane and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington. I have worked in the Mental Health field for three decades in various settings . I have a wide range of experience comprising of parenting and family counseling, vocational case management, along with helping individuals who suffer from a variety of mental health issues. It takes courage to seek out help in the pursuit of a more fulfilling life. I am here to help you explore your past, present and ways you can break down old patterns of coping with life. I want to support and empower you in this journey. I use evidence-based therapy techniques such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. These interventions help in the understanding of unhealthy thinking habits and behaviors that can damage a person's self-esteem and can be a barrier to building health relationships. I see strengths in the individuals I work with. My goal is to encourage my clients to acknowledge these strengths and build on them, also to encourage self-care, and positive self-talk. I am a strong believer in the benefits of mindfulness to help individuals cope with stress and anxiety. I often teach mindfulness to my clients to increase their self-awareness and self-regulation which gives them the ability to manage their emotions and change their behaviors. It is also a wonderful tool to help with focus, mental clarity, and relaxation. Going to therapy is one of the best decisions a person can make for themselves but it's hard work to examine your past patterns, your ways of thinking, and ultimately letting yourself feel. I want to help you through this process and give you the skills you need to have a more fulfilling future. Along with my passion for helping others, I love animals, reading fiction, and being out in nature. I enjoy walking in the woods with my dogs and listening to the sounds of nature. I am a big fan of wildflowers.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Going through therapy with a therapist can be a very beneficial experience for individuals who want to work through their mental health challenges and improve their overall well-being. Here are some steps you can take to make the most of your therapy experience: - Find the right therapist: The first step is to find a therapist who is a good fit for you. Look for someone who specializes in the type of issues you want to address and whose style matches your preferences. I hope I can be that person for you. - Set clear goals: It's important to have clear goals for therapy so that you and I are on the same page. In our first session, we will discuss your goals and work together to create a treatment plan that outlines the steps you will take to achieve those goals. - Try to be open and honest with me about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I am here to help you, and I can only do so if I have a clear understanding of what's going on. - Trust the process: Therapy can be a long process, and it's important to trust that the work you're doing with me will pay off in the end. It's also important to be patient and not expect instant results. - Practice self-care: In addition to attending therapy sessions, it's important to practice self-care on a regular basis. This may include activities such as exercise, meditation, or spending time with loved ones. - Keep an open mind: Finally, it's important to keep an open mind and be willing to try new things. As your therapist, I may suggest different techniques or approaches that you haven't tried before, and it's important to be receptive to these suggestions. Remember, therapy is a collaborative process between you and me, so be sure to communicate your thoughts and concerns along the way. With the right mindset and a willingness to work, therapy can be a transformative experience that helps you achieve your goals and improve your quality of life.
