Hi there, I'm Canise! Hello, my name is Artis Canise Lewis, but I prefer to be called Canise. I am a California Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 25 years of experience in my profession. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Los Angeles, and my Bachelor’s degree from La Sierra University. My approach to therapy is client-centered, trauma-focused, and incorporates behavioral modification. My professional background has primarily focused on forensic psychological theoretical frameworks, especially using Erik Erikson's Eight Stages of Development. My approach I integrate Erik Erikson’s Stages of Development, Carl Rogers’ Humanistic Theory, Behavioral Modification, and some Gestalt principles. My focus I work with adults aged 25 to 65, addressing issues such as anxiety, PTSD, bereavement, depression, stress, relationships, parenting, major life changes, and mood disorders. My communication style I am client-centered and quickly assess what feels most comfortable for the client based on their culture, tone of voice, crisis situation, and specific needs. My journey to mental healthcare At 13 years old, I watched the story of Helen Keller and was deeply moved by how rewarding it was to see Dr. Sullivan help a challenging client connect and create major life changes.
