What should a new client know about working with you?

In a typical first session, one can expect a friendly and open atmosphere. I will strive to build rapport upon the first session and create a safe place for you to begin sharing openly. I also want clients to feel hopeful at the end of every session and will allow space for clients to ask any questions as well. We will discuss your goals and review your personal, relational, and family history to better understand your experiences and patterns that may be impacting your life or relationships. We will identify the areas of you would like to focus on and develop a collaborative plan tailored to your needs and goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Emotionally focused therapy is the foundation of my work with individuals and couples. I focus on understanding deeper emotions beyond the surface-level behaviors and confict. EFT helps us understand deeper emotions, unmet attachment needs, and patterns that keep people feeling disconnected or misunderstood. I help clients slow down and explore the emotions that exist beneath reactions such as anger, withdrawal and defensiveness. We will identify recurring cycles that create distress. I strive to have clients be vulnerable in discovering misunderstood feelings and create a space where clients can be present with their feelings and one another. Couples Counseling In couples counseling, I will utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy interventions and techniques. We will utilize attachment based interventions to explore attachment experiences that influence communication, conflict, trust, and intimacy. I focus on communication skills and training to encourage active listening, engagement, emotional validation, and conflict resolution strategies. I will assist in emotional regulation and ways to reduce negativity and remaining emotionally present with one another. I have extensive experience in assisting couples who have experienced infidelity and have created trainings and coaching programs to take clients through a healing experience for them to have a successful and trusting relationship again.
