Hello, I'm Cara. As a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPCC) in the States of Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, and Arizona, I bring over twenty years of experience to our sessions. Additionally, I am a Nationally Certified Counselor. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients from various walks of life. Whether it's individuals, groups, couples, or emerging adults, I've helped many navigate challenges related to depression, anxiety, loss, grief, life transitions, abuse, trauma, and relationship issues. Beyond my clinical practice, I have nine years of experience as an Associate Professor of Psychology, where I taught courses such as Counseling Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Theories of Personality, and Lifespan Development. This academic background enriches my therapeutic approach, allowing me to integrate a broad spectrum of psychological theories and practices into our work together. My therapeutic philosophy centers on getting to know you on a holistic level within a safe and supportive environment. I believe in the power of a strong therapeutic relationship and count it an honor when clients feel comfortable enough to engage in difficult and often uncomfortable discussions. My goal is to help you find freedom from the fears, thoughts, and hurts that have been negatively impacting your life. As a solution-focused counselor, I am client-centered and utilize various evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing. These methods are designed to assist you in the process of change, fostering self-discovery, healing, and growth. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and support you on your journey towards a more fulfilling and balanced life.
