Psychotherapist
WI
Hi there, I'm Cara! I am a multicultural individual who sees each person's struggle. I invite you to reach out if you are searching for a therapist who can understand your cultural background and looking for a warm and nonjudgmental environment. My approach I am a therapist trained in trauma-informed care, so I focus heavily on strength-building and reframing the story that each person has experienced. Additionally, I have a background in the creative arts, so my creativity often helps through an experiential lens to ensure each person has a treatment tailored to them. My focus My ideal client is a teen, adult, or couple who needs communication work, reframing and refocusing thoughts, or is in need of assistance with anxiety. I enjoy working with individuals who are motivated on their journey to healthier mental practices and those seeking assistance. My communication style My communication style is what I like to call warm but direct. Therapy can be hard enough on a client, and so to make it feel more comfortable, I try to word things to make it feel like talking to a friend. That being said, while I use a lot of metaphors or colloquialisms, I am a direct communicator and often push the client to answer their questions. My journey to mental healthcare I originally wanted to be an art therapist, but found through my schooling and internship that while I enjoy the healing that art can do, I much more prefer art when it is finished. Upon graduating with a BFA in graphic design and illustration, I worked for some years in the field and found many toxic work environments where employees could not be themselves or were discriminated against. It was then that I realized there are a lot of hurt people in the world who need help healing. From there, I went to grad school at a CACREP-accredited university and began working to heal my community. My goals for you SMART goals all the way. Treatment goals are important for clients to have direction and investment in their treat
