Carey Wiese, LCSW

Carey Wiese, LCSW

Psychotherapist
53 W Jackson Blvd, Ste 1615, Chicago, IL
At times, people ask: how was your day? For me, a great day is one filled with people-hearing their stories, joining their journey, and connecting deeply. As a therapist, I count it a privilege to spend my days this way. I am grateful for each person who invites me in on the path to greater wholeness, freedom, and connection. Joining others and watching their courage, strengths, and healing unfold is a profound gift in life. I believe that every single human being has unique challenges to face. I also believe it is incredibly helpful not to face those challenges alone. As a therapist, I am committed to being an ally in those challenges, providing a safe environment, and working hard with you as we plot the path to greater wellness together. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Michigan, a Master's in Divinity from Trinity International University, and a Bachelor's degree from Carthage College. Before becoming a therapist, I served in full-time pastoral ministry. I currently live in Chicago with my wife and three children. I love being outdoors, exercising, talking deep, and laughing hard. I also enjoy great coffee and walking around with a waffle cone of ice cream.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I value working with each individual or couple. I seek to be genuinely caring, driven to truly help, and informed by practice, experience, and training in proven therapeutic tools.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I strive to hear each client's unique story, seeking to truly understand what is getting in their way, as well as the roots behind their present roadblocks to health. During therapy, I seek to address what is current in the life of each client, and how it can be resolved with a blend of present day focused skills and new learning, as well as resolving old wounds from the past. We often discuss what each client is feeling and sensing during the session, and track any subtle changes in their experience. Overall, my goal is for each client to feel safe, secure and heard during each session.
