Getting to know Carissa Boncardo

**Please note: I’m a therapy-only provider, focused on helping you through conversation and support. I do not prescribe medication or offer medicine management.** I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor currently practicing in Mamaroneck, New York. I work with children, adolescents, and adults in both individual and family settings. My goal is to build a private practice where I can create a safe space for my clients to share and grow in their own unique ways. My general philosophy as a counselor is that we all have the power to heal ourselves. My job is to give you the tools to do so. I do this by using mindfulness in my practice. In our sessions, we will work on staying focused on the "now". While there are times we will absolutely explore and process the past, I want to focus on the strengths and difficulties that drove you to seek counseling. In this approach, we focus on building on your strengths and giving you skills to take with you. I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques in my practice. I believe our interventions need to be as unique as the clients that come through our doors. To accommodate this, I offer Play Therapy, Person-Centered approaches, mindfulness practice, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I also work to include creative theories such as Art and Sand Tray. I am always actively seeking new training opportunities and keeping up with new theories to benefit my clients.
