Getting to know Carissa Lee

I have been a therapist for three years. I specialize in treating addiction and mental health, primarily anxiety, depression and trauma. I was in the Air Force prior to becoming a Social Worker, and I have a soft spot for the veteran community. I currently live in Kentucky, in Elizabethtown. I love to travel, spend time with my family and date my husband!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work in addiction and mental health because I have lived through both of these issues and bring with me an empathetic approach to my therapy. I understand the struggles, the pain and the difficulty in seeking help and finding the right provider. It is so hard to reach out, but once you find the person you connect with, your entire life can change. I had mine changed by a Social worker named Hannah. I will never forget her. I do what I do because she saved my life, and now I save other people's.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe the client is an equal partner in sessions, and a collaborative approach to therapy is best. I bring the skills, but you bring the solutions and together we create goals and objectives to move mountains together. Through several approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, empathetic listening and a strong therapeutic rapport, we will work as a team to help you reach your goals.
