Getting to know Carizma Chapman

My name is Dr. Carizma Chapman, and I am a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Doctor of Marital and Family Therapy and a Doctor of Social Work from Loma Linda University. I also hold a Master’s in Marital and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University and a Bachelor’s degree from Montreat College. I curate therapeutic experiences that support professional and executive women in achieving lifestyle, intimacy/relationship, career, health, and general life goals. I thoroughly enjoy and am adept at working with people with diverse identities and from diverse backgrounds. My approach I tailor my therapeutic approach to the unique needs of clients. I use evidence-based experiential, attachment, and system therapies to support clients in healing. My approach is very much trauma-informed and mindfulness-based. In my work with clients, I focus on the here and now, patterns, emotions, thoughts, sensations, and intuitions that arise, supporting clients to acknowledge, work through, and reflect on the experience of having done so. My focus I work with professional and executive women with diverse and intersecting identities. I have extensive experience treating work stress, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, intimate partner challenges, and other lifestyle issues. My communication style I hold a warm, therapeutic, inclusive, and safe treatment space. I work to ensure that clients leave every therapeutic encounter feeling seen, heard, a bit more embodied and alive, and appropriately attended. I am an empath, able to easily attune and thoughtfully respond to the needs of clients. My journey to therapy As a highly intuitive and empathetic child, I found myself attuned to and confused by suffering and social inequities. My early awareness and impressions of these issues birthed in me a desire to understand people, support their well-being, and combat social inequities.
