“I took my son to see Carl Brakman after seeing great reviews. Carl was wonderful to work with. He was very straightforward in explaining treatment and very understanding of my son's needs. Scheduling is also very flexible. I had gone to therapy as a child and had a decent experience, but the therapist back then would keep therapy going indefinitely whether there were improvements or not. Carl, on the other hand was not looking to create a life long client that was dependent on him. He is kind and knowledgeable, but will also state when he needs to research how to treat something more fully, and then by the next visit, he will obviously have done effective research into the most current therapies. My son was able to see Carl weekly for a couple months and then biweekly for a couple more before Carl suggesting that he was ready to graduate. If my family needs anything in the future, we will not hesitate to return. For now, my son has great therapeutic strategies thanks to Carl.”

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapeutic approach begins with creating a safe, judgment-free environment where you can express yourself authentically. I view therapy as a collaborative partnership where your experiences and perspectives are valued and respected. Drawing from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Mindfulness Practices, and Existential Analysis, I tailor treatment to address your specific needs and goals. I believe firmly in your innate capacity for growth and transformation and consider it my privilege to support you on this journey toward greater self-awareness and emotional well being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work together typically begins with a comprehensive initial assessment where I'll take time to understand your current challenges, personal history, and therapeutic goals. Rather than rushing to solutions, I prioritize building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust and mutual understanding. Together, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan that incorporates strategies and techniques best suited to your unique situation. Sessions focus on practical skill-building while exploring underlying patterns that may contribute to current difficulties. I provide regular opportunities to evaluate your progress and adjust our approach as needed. Whether working through immediate concerns or addressing longstanding patterns, my commitment is to provide consistent support while empowering you with tools for lasting change.

I have been very pleased with every aspect of my treatment - very thoughtful and inciteful and most importantly useful results. I want to thank Carl and Dr. Graham for the work you are doing.
Carl is the first therapist I have had, and he has made things very easy for me. I came into my first appointment very skeptical of the practice, but left feeling refreshed and supported. He gives sound advice and is a very engaged in our conversations. I continue to see him frequently and it has been very helpful.

Carl Brackman is an excellent social worker and I highly recommend him. He is kind, considerate patient and is certain to ask questions and give feedback that are relevant to concerns I have presented. He is knowledgeable about the many conditions he treats and has been respectful and encouraging of progress made. I find him to be easy to converse with and supportive in sessions. He asks helpful questions and I leave feeling heard, supported, and with a direction to focus on in between visits. I very much appreciate the sessions I have had and the breath work exercises he has shared with me.

Carl was very welcoming and helpful
Intelligent, understanding, good communicator with my daughter that does not talk much. Is down to earth with parents and the kids.
Carl has helped me improve my health and wellbeing in ways I've never thought possible. The first couple of sessions will be an icebreaker, be prepared to challenge yourself and come with any problems that keep showing up in your life. The guidance I've received has helped alleviate so much stress and burden from my past and present worries. I feel significantly more confident in my abilities, and calm for the present and what's to come. Thanks for showing me the path of equinimity!!
Carl is an ideal therapist -- good listener, thoughtful commenter, and sympathetic, but practical. He puts you at your ease and we came up with several good ideas for me to work on. He elicits the goals of his patient. I would recommend Carl to people who want to work on their behavior to improve their lives!
