Getting to know Carleah East

As a native of Florida, I chose to serve this community. I am a clinical psychotherapist and licensed mental health counselor with over 20 years of experience in the Tampa Bay Area. I earned my PhD in Psychology from Capella University. My passions include addressing mental and social issues such as anxiety, depression, relationships, women's issues, mood disorders, and physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My mission is to always provide support and honest feedback to assist individuals in solving and managing current problems, as well as identifying and challenging long-standing patterns. With sensitivity, love and compassion, I will work to help YOU discover your own inherent strengths and build new ones.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

It took me a long time to find a therapist that I felt could help me. I'm glad to have found one!

I found Dr. East upon recommendation from another one of her clients. At the time, I was in the throws of a significant mental and physical health concern. She has always provided education for my condition so I understand what I am experiencing clinically and behaviorally. She is an active listener, challenges me when I get stuck, provides options or ideas for solutions, and has given me new tools to better address my challenges. With her help, I have progressed a great deal and was able to stop therapy for a few years. I decided to come back to therapy recently for some coaching and to have a few check in sessions to keep me on target. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. East. Side note, she also has hosted group counseling sessions and free workshops specifically for youth in the community. She is an all around great human being.
Dr. East makes me feel empowered to tackle challenges I am facing head on with the confidence to overcome them. She is caring with just the right sprinkle of fierceness to be able to frame circumstances in a manner that makes them more understandable and relatable. I have come a long way under her guidance and am grateful for her passion and understanding.
