Relationships can bring up some of our deepest fears, insecurities, and patterns. I work with adults who struggle with insecure attachment patterns, people-pleasing, boundaries, overthinking, self-trust, and recurring relationship challenges. My approach is attachment-based, collaborative, and person-centered. Together, we’ll explore how past experiences may be shaping the way you connect with others today, while building greater self-awareness, stronger boundaries, improved communication, and healthier, more secure relationships.

Getting to know Carlen Milner

Relationships can bring up some of our deepest fears, insecurities, and patterns. I work with adults who struggle with insecure attachment patterns, people-pleasing, boundaries, overthinking, self-trust, and recurring relationship challenges. My approach is attachment-based, collaborative, and person-centered. Together, we’ll explore how past experiences may be shaping the way you connect with others today, while building greater self-awareness, stronger boundaries, improved communication, and healthier, more secure relationships.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, collaborative, and conversational. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel comfortable being honest about what you’re experiencing without fear of judgment. I won’t tell you what decisions to make, but I will help you slow things down, recognize patterns, explore what may be underneath them, and strengthen trust in yourself. I use an attachment-based and person-centered approach while incorporating practical tools from CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and strengths-based therapy when helpful. Our work may explore relationship patterns, emotional needs, boundaries, communication, self-worth, and the ways earlier experiences influence how you connect with yourself and others today.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first few sessions focus on getting to know you, what brings you to therapy, your current relationships and concerns, and the experiences that have shaped you. We’ll work together to identify the patterns you want to better understand or change and develop goals that feel meaningful to you. Sessions are collaborative and tailored to what you need that day while still connecting our conversations to the bigger picture. We may explore recent relationship experiences, identify triggers and attachment patterns, process emotions and unmet needs, or practice skills related to boundaries, communication, emotional regulation, and self-trust. Over time, the goal is not only to understand why certain patterns exist, but to help you develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.
