Hello, I'm Carlos. Psychotherapy is a time you can use to stop and assess your situation, goals, needs, and barriers. In therapy, you can learn skills to address thinking errors as well as skills to ameliorate your sleep, stress, sadness, nervousness, and/or behaviors in need of change. In all, psychotherapy is a time to work toward improving your well-being. I incorporate a therapeutic approach that is person-centered, experiential, and dynamic, in addition to evidence-based approaches to fit your needs. In our sessions, you can expect my use of flexibility, empathy, and unconditional positive regard to help you reach your goals. I believe your experiences can be best understood in the general context of your life and the structure of your self-identity. With that said, you can expect our initial visit to begin with getting a better picture of your psychosocial history as well as your current functioning. We will also create a treatment plan focused on your therapy goals. To reach those goals, we will implement ideas from various evidence-based approaches. These approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness and Self-Compassion. In our sessions, you can expect me to provide you with presence, consistency, reliability, and emotional availability. I am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis. My specialty areas include psychosis, OCD spectrum disorders, trauma, insomnia, anxiety, depression, and grief.
