Getting to know Carlos Velazquez

Hi, I'm Carlos. I appreciate the seriousness of this step you are taking in finding help and meaning. Opening up to share your vulnerabilities and hopes should not be taken lightly. I'm a firm believer in the individual’s ability to change. Furthermore, I believe that a strong professional relationship between the client and counselor is key to therapeutic success and that this relationship is best fostered through an atmosphere of professionalism, trust, collaboration, and respect. Let me share with you some of my background. I earned my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I have been with my wife for 27 interesting years, and we are going strong. We have two children that we enjoy. The military has been a way of life for us. My professional therapeutic experience has centered on working with traumatized individuals of all ages and their families. Primarily within judicial and community organizations, I have worked with clients living with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, domestic violence, familial conflict, childhood behavioral challenges, and environmental hardships.

What should a new client know about working with you?

By the conclusion of our professional relationship I aim for our collaborations to have helped you to have found motivation and hope for the future through defining what it is you want and need and a plan for progress.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
