Getting to know Carly Anderson

Therapy is not a one-size-fits all journey, and I make it my intention to tailor the process to the unique needs of each individual client. My clients can take comfort in knowing that I will meet them exactly where they are, and work collaboratively with them to cultivate an approach that works for them. Providing a safe and trusting space for my clients is both a priority and a privilege to me.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a person centered therapist, I place emphasis first and foremost on building a trusting relationship with my clients. So too, I believe that clients should have autonomy over their therapy goals and process, and feel safe with me as we embark on the journey together. If you are ready to take the first step towards therapy, it would be my privilege to support you each and every step of the way from there. When you enter this space, you can take solace in knowing you will be listened to, collaborated with, challenged empathically, and most of all, understood. I look forward to connecting with you!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I recognize therapy can feel daunting, and it is one of my top priorities to make it feel anything but. A typical session with me will start off with a relaxed check in to ease us into the therapeutic space together. From there, I will usually kick us off with an opening question, and leave it to my client to decide our initial direction. Some clients may wish to hold the imaginary talking stick for the majority of the session, others may opt for more structured questioning and direction; I will follow your lead and ensure you never feel stuck or put on the spot. Our time together will span a clinical hour (between 50 and 60 minutes) and usually begins on a weekly cadence.
