Getting to know Carly Braswell

Are you exhausted from trying to hold everything together while anxiety, trauma, ADHD, or chronic pain and illness keep pulling you back? Maybe you feel stuck in the same patterns of relationships, habits, or ways of coping that aren't working. I work with adults navigating trauma and PTSD, chronic pain and illness, ADHD, and LGBTQ+ identity and relationships. Therapy can be a space to slow down, reconnect with your mind and body, and find new ways forward. I offer a compassionate, supportive environment where we can explore what’s been weighing on you and begin building a life that feels more stable and authentic.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is holistic, blending mind and body-based practices with expressive arts to help you connect with both your internal and external experiences. Therapy doesn’t always have to look like traditional talk therapy. Sometimes words don’t fully capture what’s going on beneath the surface. That's where creativity and body awareness come in. You don’t need to be an artist to explore expressively, just bring your openness and curiosity. Together, we’ll discover new ways for you to communicate what you may not have the words for yet.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first session is a space to land. We’ll start by getting to know each other. I’ll ask about what’s bringing you in, what you’ve been carrying, and what you’re hoping might feel different in your life. There’s no pressure to tell your entire story all at once. We move at your pace, you’re always welcome to share as much or as little as feels safe. Most importantly, the first session is about building safety and trust. You’ll have space to ask questions about my approach, talk about what has or hasn’t worked in past therapy, and clarify what you need in order to feel supported. By the end of our time, we’ll discuss next steps and begin shaping goals that feel meaningful and realistic to you. My hope is that you leave feeling heard, understood, and a little less alone than when you arrived. You don’t have to have it all figured out before you come in. We’ll begin exactly where you are.
